Spica (band)

Spica (Hangul: 스피카, stylized as SPICA) is a South Korean girl group formed in 2012 under B2M Entertainment. The group released "Doggedly" (독하게) as a prologue single on January 31, 2012 and officially debuted on February 9 with the mini album Russian Roulette. The group consists of Kim Boa, Park Sihyun, Park Narae, Yang Jiwon and Kim Bohyung.

History

2012: Debut, Doggedly, Russian Roulette and Lonely

In the beginning of 2012, B2M Entertainment announced that they would debut a girl group. Their name is a reference to Spica, the brightest star in the constellation of Virgo. On January 10, 2012, the group released their first digital single, "Doggedly" (독하게; also translated "Potently"). The music video sparked high interest, as their fellow label-mate Lee Hyori made an appearance.

On January 31, B2M Entertainment announced that the group would have their formal debut with a mini-album, titled Russian Roulette. The full-length music video was released on February 7. Promotions for "Russian Roulette" began two days later on M! Countdown. The lyrics of the song were later modified in order to meet MBC's broadcasting standards. The group released a repackaged extended play entitled Painkiller on March 29, promoting the title track of the same name.

The 69 Eyes

The 69 Eyes are a multi-platinum selling Finnish rock band. They are currently signed to EMI Finland. The band's albums are now distributed worldwide. The End Records acts as the band's official North American distributor, as Nuclear Blast Records provides distribution in Mainland Europe, Ireland and the UK. Australia will be handled by AmpHead Music. All Asian and Latin American releases are handled by EMI affiliates.

Music style

Initially, The 69 Eyes' music style was of glam metal and sleaze rock, influenced by acts such as Mötley Crüe and Hanoi Rocks. However, they began to incorporate more influence from gothic rock bands such as The Mission, The Cult, The Sisters of Mercy and The Lords of the New Church. Their sound was described as a mix of the gloominess of gothic rock with guitar-powered rock'n'roll. Their music continued to show further influence from other rock artists such as The Doors, Elvis Presley, and Billy Idol as well as vampire films and literature. The term "goth 'n roll" is used by fans to describe their style. They are often described as a dark rock band, a term which the band has embraced. In recent times, with the release of Back in Blood The 69 Eyes have moved back to a more guitar based sound, although gothic imagery and lyrical themes remain forefront in their style.

Superheroes (The Script song)

"Superheroes" is a song written by Danny O'Donoghue and Mark Sheehan of Irish pop rock band The Script with songwriter James Barry. The song was originally recorded by the band for inclusion on their fourth studio album, No Sound Without Silence (2014).

The track was first released by Columbia Records on 22 July 2014 as the lead single promoting the album. The single was released in Ireland on 29 August 2014 and in the United Kingdom on 31 August 2014.

Composition

According to The Script lead vocalist Danny O'Donoghue, "Superheroes" is a song written for "the unsung heroes out in the world". The song, which calls out "people who are going through the hardest of times but can keep their head held high", has drawn comparisons by some music critics to "Firework", originally performed by American singer Katy Perry, in terms of the song's lyrical themes.

Recording

"Superheroes" was the first song written by the band for their fourth studio album, setting a musical template for the production of the new album. The track also features additional guitar played by producer Andrew Frampton, a long-time collaborator with The Script.

Dani Harmer

Danielle Jane "Dani" Harmer (born 8 February 1989) is a British television actress, presenter and singer. Harmer is best known for her portrayal as Tracy Beaker in the CBBC programmes The Story of Tracy Beaker, Tracy Beaker Returns and Tracy Beaker Survival Files from 2002 to 2012. Harmer confirmed on Twitter that she will not appear in its spin-off series, The Dumping Ground. Apart from Tracy Beaker, Harmer played Molly Venables in the BBC sitcom, After You've Gone.

Dani also starred in her own sitcom, Dani's House from 2008 to 2012 and also starred in its spin-off series Dani's Castle from 2013 to 2014. Harmer has also occasionally presented continuity clips on the CBBC Channel. She also became a presenter on Friday Download in the first series, where she guest presented the 'Style Download' segment.

In 2008, Harmer branched into the music business and signed a £3m record deal. She recorded her debut album Superheroes in September 2009, and released the single and theme from Dani's House, "Free", but the album was never released and it was later confirmed she had given up her music career.
